Far Cry 3 came onto the scene and shook the gaming world. With its amazing graphics and sound it became one of the top 10 games for the year 2013 and most likely 2014. In this review we will give you a true and accurate appraisal of this amazing game.
When we first got into Far Cry 3 we were amazed at how fluid the graphics were. We had absolutely no lag but the graphics are excellent. From water to lighting to the jungle and brush everything is done very well. In the jungle you'll experience all kinds of animals and the animals look realistic not boxy or stupid looking. For those of you who like "Role playing games" where you have to collect things and buy and sell things such as upgrades for your weapons and such....you'll love this game. For those of you however that just want blazing gun action you may not like the role playing part of this game.
The parts we didn't like: Before we get into the parts of the game we didn't like we want to assure the gamers out there that these are not deal breakers in the game. They are very slight annoyances (in our humble opinions) that we experienced. First of all when you pick up things like weapons or ammo or anything....you can only carry so much with you. In order to carry more things you either have to drop some of the useless things you picked up (Such as a raggedy teddy bear doll..we kid you not there was one we found in the jungle lol) or you have to craft a new pouch...a bigger pouch. And you will use animal skins to do it.
You have to disgustingly slice open an animal and remove it's entrails to do it. In fact you will hear your player say "Ugghh Disgusting" when he does just that! It is not so much that the crafting is difficult but it gets old after a while and it would have been better to maybe only have to craft one or two times but the crafting doesn't really give you any satisfaction in game.
Another bad thing...O.K. we all have played games like Battlefield 2 or 3 where the cussing of the players gets out of hand. The developers of pc games must think the more cussing they put in a game the cooler we will think it is. But it has the opposite effect in reality as after a while it seems silly and it starts to get old after a while. I mean how many times does the bad guy have to drop an F bomb? Well in Far Cry 3 the developers of the game must have thought the number was 400 times because I swear I heard it that many times.
It seems to take away from the game more than add to it and you'll see what I mean when you play it. I have never understood why developers of games would push others out of the market place as this game will not be bought for young and up and coming gamers once their parents hear all the profanity. We only wish there was an option to check a box to eliminate profanity as it constantly repeats the same old profanity over and over..and yes over and over..and over and over again.
Fortunately there is a way to stop the profanity and that is with your assault rifle. I had more of a sport with it as I stormed the enemy compound and I washed out their filthy cussing mouths....not with soap but my bullets he he. The enemy are very skilled and will even rush you. In one part of the game an enemy soldier ran up to me so fast waving a sword towards my neck..but like the scene in Raiders of the Lost ark when Indiana Jones shoots the man with the giant sword.....I stopped the sword wielding mad man cold in his tracks.
There are so many good things in this game like the gun battles, the different weapons, the day and night cycles and the excellent sound and graphics that we rate this game a 4 out of 5 stars. I'll leave it up to the reader to Bleeping figure out why we bleeping didn't give it 5 @#%@$^ stars.
